USPS offers free Priority Mail Boxes and Tyvek envelopes! They also have the option to print postage online and have a carrier pick your packages up for you, which means no waiting in line at the post office!

Sellers learning how to do eBay also need to be aware that USPS offers a variety of shipping class options, too, like media mail (DVDs, CDs), First Class, and Priority Mail. International shipping is also possible.

Any list of tips on selling on eBay should include the importance of Delivery Confirmation. This is not a free service, but it will give you peace of mind about whether or not your shipment arrives at its destination. It's also a nice form of protection if a customer tries to claim a package didn't arrive.

Delivery Confirmation gives a tracking number that allows you to see when and where your package was delivered. You can also pay to have your package insured, but this is sometimes an unnecessary expense. Save it for delicate items or for if the buyer requests it.

Learning how to do eBay, means figuring out which USPS box is right for you, too. You'll need to figure out the weight of your shipment in order to see exactly which Priority Box fits your needs. Keep in mind that each class of mail will also take a certain amount of time to reach its destination. First Class takes 3-6 days and Priority can take 2-3 days. Parcel Post, another form of shipping offered by USPS, is slightly less expensive and can take several days longer to get there.

USPS also ships internationally. Yes, it costs more to do that, but one of the tips on selling on eBay is to increase your sales by offering international shipping. Just keep in mind that international shipping almost always requires a physical trip to the post office, but again, USPS offers free boxes and envelopes for use.

UPS

UPS is a good alternative to USPS when shipping eBay items. Many people who use it have a certain comfort level with this process and have items that are usually about the same weight to ship.

That means the cost of shipping may be cheaper for them in the long run. The lucky ones have a family member who work there and can ship from UPS at a discount.

If you're an eBay seller who is a dropshipper, that may be the way your wholesale provider does business because it's more cost effective for them.


Combined Shipping

How to do eBay fairly so that the customer will become a return customer is important to learn. Any list of tips on selling on eBay must point out that one way to gain customer trust is by cutting them a break on shipping if they buy more than one item from you.

Instead of charging shipping for each item, put them in one box and do a one time fee based on the weight of the box. Another possibility would be to charge them a fee for the first item and then a lesser fee for any additional purchases. You could also do a flat rate fee where "X" amount of money was charged regardless of how many items were shipped.

Keep in mind there are handling fees you can charge, as well. After all, there is an insertion fee, a completion fee, PayPal fees, and supplies (bubble wrap, tape) you've had to pay, too. That being said, one of the best tips on selling on eBay to remember is not to overwhelm buyers with a large handling fee. It's the kind of thing that will send them straight to another seller.

Here are a few final tips on selling on eBay: Have your supplies ready to go. Purchase bubble wrap, packing tape, padded envelopes, and a postage scale to aid you in the shipping process. Where can you buy these things cheaply? eBay, of course!
