Buy at Storage Shed Auctions for Stay at Home Mom Income
Storage unit auction finds are fast becoming a popular way to earn stay at home mom income. Learn how storage shed auctions work and how you can get started in this fun field.
Ever driven by a storage unit and wondered what was inside it? Old sewing machines, comic book collections, treasure chests full of pirate gold -it makes the imagination go crazy thinking about all the wonderful little gems that could be hiding away in one of those things.
With the economy being as hard as it is right now, many people are unable to pay the rent on their storage units. When that happens, the storage facility claims the contents of the unit and can then resell whatever is inside by auctioning it off to the highest bidder.
A popular show on A&E called Storage Wars highlights this very idea and takes it a step further by setting up a storage unit auction.
Often they only get a few minutes to take a peek at the contents of the unit and then the bidding war begins. What's fun about this show is that you never know how much something inside the unit could be worth.
A unit that sells for $100 could end up having an item worth $1000! Half the fun of attending storage shed auctions is the thrill of not knowing what could happen.
This strategy is another way to locate items for resell on eBay, Craigslist, or even at flea markets. The old saying about one man's trash is another person's treasure could definitely be applied to the methodology behind a storage unit auction.
If this is something that interests you, you will definitely want to check out the eBook Storage Auction Secrets by Blaine Herbst. This informative book explains what storage shed auctions are all about.

Storage Auction Secrets also talks about the types of things that can be found in storage units. Cars, stoves, sewing machines -these are just a few things that you might find, but often it's the smaller treasures that can bring in more money for reselling. Vintage clocks, antique cameras, a box of old baseball cards and even motorcycles are sometimes left in storage units, too.
Many times books are left behind in these storage units. While selling them on eBay or at Half Price books is certainly on option for making a little money off of them, look into Amazon's FBA option (fulfillment by Amazon).
A truck or a trailer might be necessary to haul away some things. As you look your new purchases over, think about what would sell well on eBay.
The Storage Auction Secrets book can help guide you in making these decisions.
If you are worried about bigger items, like a car or motorcycle, don't forget about Craigslist. This is an easy to use site that handles big-ticket items all the time.
A Word from Rayven:
My husband is absolutely obsessed with starting a business with storage shed auctions so we've been to several of them. The first time we spent half a morning going to 3 separate storage unit locations which one auctioneer was running.
A total of about 12 units were up. Our purpose was to gain important experience and not to buy. One unit had a bunch of used paint cans and went for $5. Another unit had an engine on an engine lift and went for $300, a great price.
The third unit had large BOSE boxes in it. You could tell everyone was wondering if the boxes were filled with household items or if they really had the speakers inside. That unit went for $800. We never knew if they were the speakers, but it was fun to speculate!
The next time we went to an auction, we brought $1000 with us. There were 4 units in this auction, and the first one I really liked. It had a woodstove in it, a guitar case, some furniture, a fridge, and tons of nice looking boxes.
We bid, it got up to $800, and we made the decision to pass on it because there were still 3 more units. Big mistake!
The next units consisted of a drawer-less dresser, and two units full of what looked like trash. We deeply regretted not buying the unit with the woodstove. But we're planning on going to more storage shed auctions and having fun!
