Promote Your Business Through Networking

Social Networking.

Whether your business sells a product, information, is direct sales or network marketing, or is just a content based website, it is important that you network to generate traffic, sales, and backlinks to your website.

One of the best ways to network is by joining and participating in different social and business networking sites.

Networking Tips:

The more active you are, the better the networking will work.

The following sites are some of the social networking sites that I participate in. I have given links, where possible, for you to join my personal network. Please feel free to do so.

I’d love to have you as a friend. All of these social networking sites are free to join.

CafeMom

This is a great social networking group perfect for us stay home moms.

While not a business specific networking group, it is a mom specific networking group. Here you will find moms from everywhere, some who stay home, some who work at home, some who work outside the home with children in all age ranges, coming together to share the ups and downs of motherhood.

You can post photos, a journal, your daily thoughts, add friends, join groups, and just communicate and network with other moms.

Highly Recommended.

My user name is cleobird if you want to add me.

ApSense

ApSense is a social networking site devoted to promoting and networking your business. This is not a friends site, or a moms site, it is strictly for those of us in business for ourselves, or who want to be in business for ourselves.

ApSense is unique in that it offers you the ability to earn money for promoting your business. By doing the normal things that you do when you join a networking group; adding friends, making new business contacts, and just generally networking.

They do have three levels of membership, the first level being the free level. I would suggest you sign up for the free level until/unless you start to build a huge social networking organization and it would be profitable for you to upgrade.

Like other social networking sites, ApSense allows you to add friends, blog, and join or create groups. In addition, they encourage you to share your business opportunities and products, and to really go all out promoting your business. For this reason, it is valuable to join their free membership program. I even have a strong backlink to my website from posting it on ApSense.

FaceBook

FaceBook is a networking site that is kinda a “grownup” form of MySpace.

You add your friends, join networks, can upload photos and all kinds of fun applications, and so on. Your information is private, in that only friends and those in your network can view it. FaceBook is an extremely popular website, holding an Alexa rank of under 10, and the only social networking site more popular is MySpace.

I have joined some wonderful social networking groups on FaceBook, and met some great people.

Highly Recommended.

MySpace

Though MySpace is not a place to openly promote your business, it is an important place to network. You will find all kinds of new and interesting people on MySpace, but you need to be careful about what kinds of information you give out.

MySpace in notorious for predators, so please be careful.

Feel free to add me to your MySpace friends.

Blog Specific

Here are a few social networking sites that deal specifically with blogs. These are valuable for those who blog and also for those who choose to gain backlinks to their website by leaving comments on blogs. Either way, it is worth it to check out the sites and sign up.

Make it a habit to leave comments on four or five blogs daily to increase Page Rank and traffic to your website. This really works!

Squidoo
Squidoo is a very interesting, and popular website, that encourages members to create “lenses”. A lens is a mini, one page website that you can create, for free, on any topic of your choosing. Like Site Build It, the focus is on content.

You create a content page on any topic you desire, which is then accessible by the world.

You can promote products in your mini site, and all affiliate commissions, including Google Adsense revenue, are split 50/50 between you and Squidoo. You can also blatantly promote your website, product or service in your lens, so long as you also provide useful content.

A backlink from Squidoo is highly favored by the spiders, and will win you lots of brownie points with the search engines.

So here’s the breakdown:
  • It’s FREE
  • You can promote your site, earning backlinks
  • You earn royalties from activity on your lens
  • It’s FREE
  • It will take you time to create
  • Did I mention it’s free?
