Here are some other food tips designed to help you save money on groceries and your entire food budget.

Plan a Menu
If you take an extra 15 minutes each week and plan a menu, it will save you a lot of time and money. When you have a menu, you are less tempted to eat out, and when you grocery shop, you have a list! STICK TO THE LIST.

Shop Alone
When you shop alone, without the kids, or ~gasp~ the husband, you will save lots of money. Without extra hands placing foods into the cart that are unneeded, it is a lot easier to stick to your list. It’s less stressful and you get done a lot faster too.

Never Shop While Hungry
Never go to the grocery store when you are hungry! You will spend too much money on convenience foods and foods that you really don’t want to eat but buy because they look good.

Pack Kids Lunches
Consider packing your children’s lunches. You will save money and will be giving them healthier foods. Put their sandwiches and snacks in Tupperware containers instead of baggies.

Tupperware containers are reusable and will keep contents from squishing each other.

No Soda
Try liquid stevia (available in health food stores) as an alternative to soda. Place a couple drops in a cup of water, and it will taste better than any soda products you have tried. Flavors come in Root Beer, Grape, Lemon, Raspberry Chocolate, Vanilla Cream, English Toffee, and more. It is all natural, unlike many of the powdered water additives on the market, so you do not need to worry that you are feeding your children carcinogens.

Buy in Bulk
If it is less expensive to purchase your items in bulk, do so. If you do not have a co-op in your area, see if a friend or neighbor will go in with you and split the products.
