Kids Party Crafts - Frugal Fun Birthday Ideas

crafts for kids
Kids party crafts are a great way to kill two birds with one stone. There are many fun birthday ideas that you can turn into birthday craft ideas that will last beyond the party itself.

This page will introduce you to the art of planning birthday party crafts.

Pulling Double Duty

Let's face it, being a mom essentially requires that you be able to do more than one thing at the same time. We are the ultimate multitaskers.

Why not put this skill to work when coming up with fun birthday ideas? One great time and money saver when it comes to throwing great parties is kids party crafts. Crafts are things that you can make yourself (instead of going out and paying for them) that can serve multiple purposes.
  • They can be used as a craft activity for the kids.
  • They can be used as a game for during the party.
  • They can also be used as a party favor for the kids to take home with them.

  • Get the Kids Involved

One of the other great birthday craft ideas is to turn it into an activity. This way you give the kid something to do AT the party as well as something to take home FROM the party.

When kids make things themselves, they tend to appreciate them more. So you are sending them home with not only a cool party favor, but evidence of their creativity.

With these craft activities, it is rather simple to come up with something that is in line with the parties theme.

Is your child's theme princes and princesses? Get the materials out for them to make their own crowns and tiaras (all you would need would be cardboard, markers or crayons, and kid-safe scissors).

Animal themed? Let them make their own masks and tails. Craft kits such as puppet making kits or picture frame kits are also popular.

You can also just break out your crafts supply and let the kids go crazy with a freestyle crafting session. Birthday craft ideas abound.

    Game Time!

Kids party crafts can also double as games. If you have the right materials you can easily put together some fun games that the kids can play such as a Pin the tail on the donkey game or even a beanbag toss.

You can even use crafts to formulate some type of relay race that gets everyone at the party involved. And the great thing is that often these crafts-turned-games will become playtime favorites at your house.

    Fresh Refreshments

You can also turn your kids party crafts into either treats or things that go well with the treats. For example, cook up a batch of cookies and let the kids decorate them with icing, candy, sprinkles and all of the other toppings of their dreams. Serving punch or ice cream? Why not buy some cheap mugs and decorate with each child's name on it for them to take home from the party?

    Need Ideas?

If you are not naturally crafty and need ideas for kids party crafts, don’t worry. The internet is a vast resource for ideas on things like this. Pinterest is a particularly great website for parents looking for crafts ideas. Chances are that, as parents, you already have a store of arts and crafts materials somewhere in your home. Birthday parties are a great time for you to put them to use. All you need is a little creativity and time.
