Get Stuff FreeBecome a Tightwad to Get Free Stuff!Get Stuff Free (or Cheap) Part of being a TightWad is knowing how and where to get free, or really cheap, stuff. Here are some tips: Freecycle If you haven’t investigated your local FreeCycle group, now is the time to do it. This great resource will allow you to get other people’s junk….for free! Remember, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Furniture, clothing, and miscellaneous household items are common freecycled items. Plus, you are able to post items you are looking for. Did I mention its free?
Spring Cleaning Most towns have a weekend a month, quarter, or year where the garbage collectors will take large items away to the dump. These Spring Cleaning weekends are a great time to not only get rid of your big items like furniture, old bikes, and non-working appliances, but to treasure hunt for free stuff for your family. A great way to get stuff free. Barter Are you a Personal Trainer? A Doula? Maybe your husband is an Auto Mechanic. Whatever your skill, you may be able to barter your services for goods or services from someone else. This works best on personal transactions (like, you saw a dresser you wanted on Craigslist) or with self-employed individuals like webdesigners or massage therapists. Garage Sales Never underestimate the bargains to be found at Garage Sales or Yard Sales. Most of the time, people simply want to get rid of stuff.
