eBay FeedbackSellers Need to Have a Strong Positive RatingThe entire foundation of eBay has been laid in its feedback. Feed back, abbreviated FB online, is an extremely important aspect of eBay. Without the Feed Back System, eBay would not exist, as there would be too high of a chance of scammers lurking behind webpages, ready to take your money. The FB System keeps everyone honest. As a buyer, it is your responsibility to thoroughly examine a sellers FB before bidding on his item. You want to make sure that he ships quickly and does not cheat his customers. As a seller, it is your responsibility to have a strong Feed Back so that your buyers trust you and want to do business with you. But how do you do that when you have just started on eBay? Well, first off, you need to get your Yellow Star. ![]() A Yellow Star on eBay is given to a user who has 10 or more positive feedback. Before you even consider selling, you will want to have this Star. Now, I realize that here you are trying to make money off eBay, and I’m telling you that you need 10 Feed Back to begin to sell. Which makes the only logical conclusion that I am telling you to go out and BUY stuff on eBay. And, yes, that is exactly what I am saying. If you have 0 FB, and are just starting out, you will need to purchase 10 items before you begin to sell. Why? No one trusts a brand new user. You could be selling $100 bills for $1 with free shipping, and not many buyers would nibble. Without feedback, you are just an unknown chance a buyer would need to take. And for every seller with 0 FB, there is another selling the same products with strong FB. So at least get your Yellow Star before you start to sell. The nice thing is that eBay gives you feedback no matter if you are buying or selling. What should you buy? Keep it small. There are hundreds of inexpensive items on ebay for $2 or less. Buy a couple of these to pump up your score. Or, how about getting shipping supplies? You would kill two birds with one stone if you were to buy bubble wrap, packaging tape, and a postage scale on eBay! After you have gotten that Yellow Star, those critical 10 feedback, you will be ready to list. Start small with your items. Put your least valuable items up first. Save your high cost items for when your feedback crosses 50, or better yet, 100. If you are selling only a few duplicated items, then this won’t matter much. But if you have great-grandma's porcelain doll collection ready to list, hold off for a while and sell your daughter's outgrown Tommy jeans first. The higher your feedback climbs, the better your auctions will do. A buyer is willing to pay for a higher feedback score. You will occasionally get a NPB, a Non-Paying Bidder. These are people who will pop in and win an auction and then fall off the face of the earth. It happens to me about 3% of the time. (Yes, I actually calculated that once.) In order to reclaim your fees with eBay, you will need to file a Non-Paying Bidder Report. Personally, I block the user from ever bidding on any of my auctions again. The bad part for us sellers is that while buyers can check our FB to see if they want to do business with us, we, as sellers, are unable to check our buyers FB to see if we want to do business with them. If a user receives three Non-Paying Bidder Reports, he is kicked out of eBay. So make sure to file those reports! You are able to block users you do not wish to do business with. This is a particularly important feature to use as you come across people with very bad FB scores, or you do business with a shady character. Simply add them to your list, and that user will be unable to ever bid on one of your auctions. When you are leaving FB, be sure and be extra careful about what you say. It is permanent. Even if the comments are accidentally given, FB cannot be erased. There is a way to mutually withdraw the positive/negative point, but the comments themselves will always be there. Think things through before you get caught up in a moment and say some mean things. The following links will show you more about listing and selling items on eBay.
