Do you have a passion for social etiquette? Do you think kids today need a little help in the manners department?



Do you enjoy working with kids, and want to do something different and refreshing?

Then you should consider becoming an etiquette teacher for kids!

Now, you can, of course, become an etiquette instructor for adults as well, but as this is a website for stay at home moms, I think examining the unique field of etiquette lessons for kids is more appropriate.

I will admit, many of the ideas I give you on this website are ideas I have either done, researched, seriously considered as a business opportunity for myself, or are a service I have specifically looked for to use myself.

This idea, etiquette lessons for kids, is one that I have been looking to get for my children.

We're not rich, but I do enjoy going out to expensive restaurants once in a while, and I like doing unique things with my kids which are often considered activities for grown ups only.

(FYI, the Server Chain of Command states that a precocious 6 year old girl may not directly ask a waiter or waitress to bring her a refill Kiddie Cocktail with two maraschino cherries this time. She may only ask her mother to convey the message for her.)

If you live in a larger town or city, this service is needed, and those who need it are willing to pay for it. You could take lessons on how to become an etiquette instructor and offer classes once a month for children in your area.

There are many different programs out there to learn to become an etiquette instructor.

Some of these are home study courses, some are DVD training programs, and still others offer onsite training.

What you choose to do will depend on your location, your interests, and just how much you want to financially invest in the education and certification process.

You could probably get away with renting a hotel meeting room or even a small room at a local dance studio for your monthly etiquette lessons for kids. This way you would not need to invest in a storefront and could basically work out of your home.

Alternately, you could offer private lessons.

Marketing Your Business

First and foremost, invest in business cards. You can get some free at VistaPrint for the price of shipping, but I recommend getting their premier cards, which are still very inexpensive but very professional. This is where I purchase my cards.




Make up fliers and post your services at area country clubs and children's dance studios. You may even be able to work out some sort of an arrangement with local businesses to give you referrals. You could offer to pay a small finders fee to a dance studio, for instance, for each child who attends one of your classes.

As your business grows, you will want to create a content based local website to advertise your services. This is the first place many people will come to look for an etiquette instructor in your area. This is the first place I personally choose to look for etiquette lessons for kids.
