For frugal moms who are looking for cooking techniques that are both simple and frugal, the crockpot can be your best friend! Not only are they cheap to buy, but they are cheap to use. And with the simple turn of a knob, you can transform your frugally obtained meats into delicious dishes that your family will love. There are several reasons that you should invest in a crockpot if you haven’t already:
  1. Cost effective- As I mentioned before, crockpots can be obtained for a relatively low cost. And when you consider that they last a really long time, whatever you pay is guaranteed to be a great investment.

Ranging from $30 to $100, you can't beat the cost. And not only do you save money on the appliance itself, but you save money on groceries because you can buy the cheaper cuts of meat and tenderize them yourself rather than buying tenderized meats at a higher cost.

And meats aren't the only grocery staple that you save on. Rather than buying canned beans, you can buy dried beans and cook them in the crockpot. Finally, when it comes to running the crockpot, you definitely save money when you compare it to the wattage that you use when you cook with the oven. Even when you are running your crockpot for 7 hours, you can still end up using half of the power that your oven would use just from being on for an hour!

  2. Healthier – Since crockpot meals rarely call for oil, you are able to serve your family healthier meals, especially if you cut away the fatty portions of your meat before cooking.

  3. Simple- Often, crockpot recipes just require you to assemble the ingredients in the crockpot and then set the timer. Easy!

  4. Easy Clean Up- Because you primarily use one pot to cook, your clean up is much simpler than if you had to use several pots and pans. Gotta love that!

  5. Saves Time- As moms, we often don’t have time to stand guard over a stove for hours. With crockpots, you don’t have to. They bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "set it and forget it".
