Clothes Shopping

by Evie Maddox
(Anthony, KS)

We shop garage sales, thrift stores, and clearance for next year's clothing.

We absolutely LOVE Goodwill.

We save over 75% on brand new clothes by shopping a year ahead when stores are giving away their leftovers (AKA "clearance").

Then, I resell my kids' clothes in local consignment sales and practically make my money back.

I've also found books for homeschooling at Goodwill, among nice, brand name clothing.

Garage sales are also nice if they have kids a tad older than your own!

Great Planning!
by: Rayven from Stay a Stay at Home Mom

Evie,

Thanks for your great tips on planning in advance!

I have heard of those who will buy up good quality clothes years and years in advance, and store them in sorted tubs: i.e, "Girls, size 8, Boy's size 16" ready for use when the child hits that age.

And way to go reselling clothes at the consignment sales! You get more money than you would selling them at a yard sale, and it not as time consuming as eBay.
