Become an InfopreneurEarn Income with Information ProductsBecome an infopreneur. The term infopreneur is a modern term that means someone who sells information. For instance, I am an infopreneur because I am the author of information products, and the webmaster of a content based website.
For those who are creative and are able
to put down their thoughts onto paper, a good choice in career might
be to become an infopreneur. There is a constant demand for information, the overhead is low, and the ability to earn passive income is very attractive. As you start to become an infopreneur, you start to become an expert on your topic or subject. Though you may start off authoring books, you may find as you begin to promote those books that you take on a new infopreneur role, creating more products (some you never imagined) in order to meet the needs of those who trust you and consider you an expert. Information products vary, and do not have to exclusively be books. Here are some examples of information products. Traditional Books When you think of information, you
think of books, and one who is an author of a traditional book can be
termed an infopreneur, so long as that book is a non-fiction book. How-To books are very popular and sell for higher amounts than fiction books, are easier to write, and are much easier to get published traditionally. This is one of the easier ways to become an infopreneur. WorkbooksHave you come up with an excellent how to book? You can take it a step further and create a workbook to go along with it. This informational product costs little to produce in terms of time and money, but can be sold for as much as the original book.EbooksEbooks or electronic books, are very popular information products. They also are a good place to start to become an infopreneur. Though the process of writing an ebook is the same as writing a traditional book, and in some cases they are just as long, the process of publishing the ebook is much simpler, and less expensive. Also, ebooks tend to be sold for more money than traditional books. Buyers pay more for instant gratification, and since the author does not have to pay for a physical copy of the book, the profit margin is much higher as well. Special ReportsA special report is a sort of mini-ebook. Instead of an entire book, with hundreds of pages, a special report would be more like a single chapter from a book, with only a few pages. It would be less expensive on its own, but together with other special reports could end up making the author much more money in the long run.For instance, let's say you were to write a 10-chapter ebook and were able to sell it successfully for $25. Compare that to separating those 10 chapters each into one special report and selling them individually for $10 each. You have a profit potential of $100 compared to $25. CDs![]() Think outside the box. Infopreneurs today have a wide variety of products available for their followers. You can get started in CDs and put your written books, special reports, and workbooks onto CD format. You can also tape interviews and seminars that you have done and put those onto audio CDs for purchase. DVDSHow to videos and videotaped speeches and seminars are excellent ideas for DVDs. These products can be sold with little overhead to those interested in your information. For more information on how to economically produce DVDs and CDs without having to store product, or spend a significant amount of money, check out Kunaki. Public SpeakingWhen promoting your products, you may start to do some public speaking, whether that is in the form of online radio, or actual in-person offline speeches. You may add seminars or teleseminars to your information products offerings, commanding large entrance fees to your speeches, and selling your products at the back of the room after the presentation. You may even offer online or offline classes, or consulting services when you become an infopreneur. Newsletter Another way to capitalize when you
become an infopreneur is to print out (or email) a monthly,bi-monthly, or quarterly newsletter or magazine about your chosen topic, and to charge for subscriptions. If you have quality information that changes or grows with the times, this might be a good route for you. Become an Infopreneur, Is It Worth It?Pros --You're self-employed --There's a high demand for information --High profit potential --Low overhead expenses --Compared to some businesses, low start-up costs --Ability to earn passive income --Great for creative people --Ability to become a noted expert in your subject Cons --It can take years before you become successful --Very labor intensive at the beginning --Not a field for those who are not creative --Not a field for those who are not disciplined --Some upfront costs to get your products published Infopreneur ResourcesCheck out the following excellent resources for more information on how to become an infopreneur. 25 Ways to Write for MoneyBy David Goldsmith This excellent ebook gives the reader several different ways to earn money by writing.
